Who Needs A Holiday?

According to the easyJet Taking the Temperature annual report 2021, more than half of consumers (58%) are still too nervous about travel disruption to book a holiday . However, recent announcements lifting restrictions and simplifying testing requirements for international travel are  renewing enthusiasm for planning and booking holidays abroad, and by October 3.8 million Brits had booked a holiday abroad to go on before 2022.

This is reflected in ABTA (The Association of British Travel Agents) research. They add that 36% of people aged between 25 and 34, plan to take a winter holiday this year, making them the most likely age group, with the second most likely being people over the age of 65 years old, at 33%.

Give away or selling some belongings may work as a good declutter, and may even swell the holiday funds, but don’t forget that you’ll be coming back. Don’t divest yourself of anything you use regularly or which has sentimental value without being certain you won’t need to rebuy upon your return.

Renting out your place while you’re away is always an option. Pack all of your personal things and valuables up and remove them to somewhere safe (like self storage) for the peace of mind of both you and your tenants.

Of course if you’re renting your property, you’ll need to check that sub-letting is OK, and if you’re giving up your lease, you’ll need to prepare well in advance.
