Viewpark is a large town in North Lanarkshire, Scotland situated near Uddingston and Bellshill. The town gets its name from a rural estate with the same name and is located just off New Edinburgh Road. Also close by is Viewpark Colliery, one of many mines in the area.

Viewpark grew as a result of a need for mass housing for local miners in the mid 20th century. New industries such as the Caterpillar Tractor Company and Ranco Motors further spurred population growth. With this influx of industry, however, many people were displaced to make way for the erection of the new factories.

During the 1900s Viewpark became known as an area with a busy manufacturing industry. That’s why today the town is surrounded by many business industrial parks which include Strathclyde Business Park and Tannochside. Righead Industrial Estate lies between Bellshill and Viewpark.

Viewpark’s major road, Laburnum Road (which locals refer to as ‘The Burma Road’) is home to Burnhead Bowling Club and Burnhead Parish Church. An area known to locals as Viewpark Glen, but is officially the Douglas Support Estate. It’s a scenic woodland area that cuts across Bothwell, Hamilton and Motherwell.

In Market Place near Burnhead Street locals can access the Viewpark Library, Burnhead Community Centre, and the Viewpark Health Centre. There are also many restaurants to eat and relax on New Edinburgh Road such as Hot Flame World Buffet, New Taste and Jazz Cafe.
