The area of Hanger Hill in Ealing used to be home to Mount Castle Tower, a tea-stop in the 19th century. It was demolished in 1881 and replaced by Fox’s Reservoir, which was drained during World War II. Nowadays, the area is used for residential purposes and contains the Hanger Hill Garden Estate conservation area.
Ealing is well known for its film studios, which date back to the start of the 20th century. Chief among these is Ealing Studios on Ealing Green, just off St Mary’s Road. It dates back to 1902, but its production stages are still being used for major pieces today. The Questors Theatre on Mattock Lane also supports the creative arts. The Questors put on around 20 performances a year, and the venue offers a range of classes and workshops for the public.
