Santa’s Little Elves Go Orange (Again)

This time last year, our blog looked like a charity splurge. And in all honesty, whilst we are really proud of our compassionate bunch of franchisees, it felt like ‘virtue signalling’ because they were, amazingly, doing so much!

So this year we thought we’d give you a sample of what some our fabulous franchise teams are doing across the country to support charities at Christmas in one single blog.

On Christmas Day, Fiona Cowan and Russell Hanson of easyStorage Bristol, Bath and Cheltenham (BBC) will be helping out at Bath Open Christmas. This provides, free, a hot, freshly cooked Christmas Lunch in the dining hall of Kingswood School to around 160 guests from the Bath area who might otherwise spend Christmas alone. Additional meals are delivered to housebound people and to Julian House, a charity that supports vulnerable and at-risk adults and young people experiencing homelessness, escaping domestic abuse, with learning difficulties and those leaving prison in need of support.

Alex and Emma Glass of easyStorage Thames Valley have supported the A.C.E Christmas Toy Drive on Saturday December 18 having already joined them for The Big Wrap, wrapping presents this year. And as if to top last year’s charitable acts, Emma, who’s normally very well groomed and sophisticated, committed the ultimate fashion sin – double denim! She’s forgiven though: it's for the Alzheimer’s Society’s Denim for Dementia fundraising event.

Meanwhile, Jamie Domican of easyStorage Hampshire has quietly got on with his Christmas goodwill gesture, and helped a charity in Cheam that was moving location across Hampshire. The team stored over 50 desks, chairs and computers for them whilst their new premises were being prepared.

Our very own ‘wonder woman’, Sam Hunt, from easyStorage Leicestershire and Coventry volunteers locally at the Jubilee foodbank all year, so it was natural that the foodbank should be beneficiaries of Christmas charity activity too. easyStorage Leicestershire and Coventry  is collecting all things orange for them in partnership with other orange local businesses including cheerleading company Fox All Stars, web developer STB Graphic design, and estate agent The Property Fox.

At easyStorage Dorset, Spencer Bowley and Connor Budney will be teaming with two charities for Christmas tree collections in early January to help raise funds. They ran phenomenally successful Christmas tree collections last year and are planning on doing the same this year, giving a day each this year to both the Lewis-Manning Hospice (as last year) and Julia's House Children’s Hospice, whose patron is none other than Harry Rednapp.

And at the other end of the nation, easyStorage Scotland partnered last year with HomeInstead, providing advent calendars and shortbread for the vulnerable and elderly. This year Glasgow’s elderly will receive IRN Bru and Tunnocks Teacakes! Moreover, one of their easyTrucks have appeared with lights (like coca cola truck), a Santa with orange beard and an elf with orange tights. It will be on its way to pick up from Scotland’s Trussell Trust foodbank collection points and drop off at foodbanks across Scotland.

They all deserve a massive (orange) salute. We’re proud of them!
