Introducing Mohammad, Storage Solutions Specialist

Three months ago, Mohammed Awan joined the storage team at easyStorage. Now fully trained, he’s become an essential part of our team, helping customers find the right storage at the right price in the right place to meet their needs. He loves chasing up storage options for customers and getting it booked for them, as well as enjoying being part of a tight knit, helpful team, where he doesn’t stop learning on a daily basis.

He joined easyStorage from a sales role at Hayes Planning Centre to give himself a fresh start in a fabulous work environment. He has, over the years, had part time jobs as a tutor and even selling perfume. He ran a Pepe’s franchise for two years before he went to De Montfort University in Leicester. There he enjoyed the freedom of a new group of friends, and a smaller ‘town’ environment away from the big city.

But whilst you can take the man out of London, you can’t take London out of the man, and after university he returned home to London, not far from the easyStorage office. But not before he’d earned a first class degree in Business Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and won an award for the highest achieving student in his final year.

Home for Mohammad is parents and three sisters. When his mother fell in love with a local cat whilst on holiday in Turkey, she didn’t bring it back but made good arrangements for the kitty to be looked after. She arrived home to a cat that Mohammad had brought home, spotting that this was a good time to introduce a ‘fur baby’ to the family. Two months later, the cat had four kittens which no-one could bear to part with and then two further litters. Today the family has four cats.

Mohammad follows the crypto market closely, watching trends, so it’s great that he still finds time for playing basketball, and enjoys tennis in the summer. He regularly plays at ‘TopGolf’, a high-tech golf game with climate-controlled hitting bays (and food, drink and music too!).

He met Isabel, his girlfriend of eight years, in sixth form at school. Together they had a fabulous adventure driving across Europe to see some of her family in Bosnia - 36 hours passing through numerous countries. Whilst there are still damaged buildings there from the war, the scenery remains  amazing. They went into the forest where there was no light pollution, perfect silence and even brown bears.,

Mohammad has a dog but doesn’t. Confused? He and Isabel went walking daily whilst in Bosnia, and met a dog that they wanted to bring home. (Can’t imagine where he got that trait from, mum!) With four cats already at home, and endless red tape to get through, it made more sense to sponsor the hound to live there with someone else than to try and bring him to the UK.

One of the qualities that easyStorage prides itself on is recognising that we don’t just provide storage. Behind every storage unit is a story: making and breaking relationships, parents or children moving on to new phases in their lives, new arrivals…. Our ‘things’ often have meaning, and there’s emotions that go with that. So the easyStorage teams (franchises) are picked as much for their empathy as for their business acumen and ability to deliver on plans. Mohammad delivers both in spades, and we can’t wait to see what future he has with us.

Welcome to the easyStorage family, Mohammad.

Traditional Storage Vs. easyStorage: Which One is Better

As Hassan Fathy once said, tradition is the social equivalent of personal habits. Habit, comfort zone, belief – these are just some of the words we can associate with the word "tradition." It is something that has been part of our lives that is so difficult to get rid of. Being open to innovation is hard for people who do not welcome the idea of getting out of their comfort zone. The hassle and inconvenience of learning new things are some of the reasons why people do not accept change. However, change is the only permanent thing in the world. We do not have a choice but to keep up with it. Else, we will be left behind.
