Welcome Vicky Pickering to the Franchise Side of the Family

A big easyStorage welcome goes to Vicky Pickering, who has joined us as the Franchise Development Manager.

She joins easyStorage from Guardian Angels Carers where she was responsible for setting up franchise recruitment. Whilst she’ll need to go into the Uxbridge office to be with the team several times a month, most of her work will be highly mobile as she visits the easyStorage franchises across the northern parts of the UK such as Scotland, Manchester and Derby.

She has previously also worked in franchise recruitment and franchise support across multiple franchise brands within the UK. With more than nine years of franchising experience, we know Vicky will be a huge asset to the team. She has already set about providing support and adding value, ensuring compliance with brand standards and maintaining an excellent reputation – something that’s clearly worked well to date when we consider the fabulous reviews they’re all getting.

She’s already noted the supportive nature of the easyStorage family. She’s also been impressed by the level of transparency offered by senior management and the commitment to improve and adapt in such a challenging climate.

Stelios himself would be proud to hear this. The easyGroup values are:

·         Great value

·         For the many not the few

·         Relentless innovation

·         Taking on the big guys

·         Making a difference in people’s lives

·         Keep it simple

It was these values, as expressed by easyStorage co-founder Nigel Dawson, that drew Vicky to the company. She met Nigel through the BFA (British Franchise Association), when they were both working towards their Qualified Franchise Professional (QFP). She liked Nigel’s leadership style, the company vision, and, of course, the brand, so when Nigel shared an advertisement for a Franchise Development Manager, she was keen to be considered. Two very long interviews later, she was offered – and accepted – the role.

Vicky worked in recruitment prior to franchising and holds a first-class honours degree in Business obtained at Liverpool John Moores University.

Having lost her father last year, who had a passion for the guitar, she’s started taking guitar lessons. Whilst it’s tempting to make a playlist, we think Vicky will be calling the tunes rather than copying other people’s. We suggest you watch this space for more!

easyStorage: How to Use Self-Storage during Retirement

Retirement must be the pot of gold waiting at the end of the rainbow for every hardworking person who spent almost all their life working to earn a living. All of us will come to a point where we need to end our career phase and enjoy the golden years of retirement. People have different approaches when it comes to retirement. Some are spending it on organising and planning to downsize their home to make up for the years that they weren’t able to do it and some are into leisure where they buy boats or RV to enjoy a relaxing vacation they much deserve.

5 Tips in Creating a Workspace in Your Small Apartment

Dedicating a workspace or a home office should be equally valuable as any part of your apartment whether this is for a remote job or line of work is something that can be done at the comfort of your own home. More often than not, we tend to put this last on our list as sometimes we resort to our bedroom or living room as our go-to workspace. But hey, who doesn’t want working at the comfort of your bed with your PJs on while reviewing your business report? Think again. According to Harvard Business Review’s Guide to Being More Productive, “Unless you are careful to maintain boundaries, you may start to feel like you’re always at work and losing a place to come home to.” Working and sleeping in the same area is not a good idea as you tend to lose your work-life balance, which eventually will lead you to stress and being burnt out from work and feels like you don’t have a life anymore.
