The easyStorage difference

easyStorage does what it says on the can – makes self-storage easy, by collecting and delivering back customers’ possessions.

Making Storage Easy

easyStorage is a no frills self-storage business. It aims to make life as simple and as cost effective as possible for storers across the UK.

It keeps its costs low by wasting no space in the single most expensive part of a storage operation: the warehouse. Rather than having rooms, it offers standard sized easyPods that are taken to the customer’s door, where our team of loaders will pack them away and take away to store. And when the customer wants their easyPod returned, easyStorage returns them for unloading.

There are reasonably priced charges for the space and for any help the customer needs packing, loading and unloading, and for delivering things back. This way the customer pays for only what they need, and the storage costs about half of what traditional self-storage costs customers.

This kind of service is sometimes called mobile storage, but this term is sometimes used in the UK for other services. So in the spirit of keeping things ‘easy’, self-storage is the best description for the easy form of storage set to shake the storage market.

easyStorage is constantly adopting and harnessing technologies. However complex these may be behind the scenes, easyStorage aims to make things as simple and fuss free for the customer as possible. A good example is the booking system, which allows people to book their storage space 24/7 online. The company still offers a fabulous phone service, but for many the online booking service makes life easy, and there is even a space calculator to help.

Similarly, the company is conscious that people need boxes and packing materials for things other than storage, and in May 2021 launched its sister website, easyStorage Boxes.

Company History

Tim Slesinger (CEO), Nigel Dawson (Franchise Director) and Halim Boumadani (Marketing Director), founded easyStorage in 2017.

Tim Slesinger was the Founder & CEO of OSG Records Management, a storage business.  Nigel had extensive franchising experience and Halim deep marketing knowledge.  The rest, as they say, is history. (If you’re interested in the operational side of this, do see their interview for the Franchise Marketing Podcast.

An initial trial was both a learning curve and a success for the pair, and there are now easyStorage franchise operations across the country.

For easyStorage the franchise model works well. Franchisees own their own businesses, which easyStorage believes gives them some ‘skin in the game’ when it comes to looking after customers. This is borne out by a TrustPilot 4.7 out of 5 rating.

Anyone interested in franchising can find out more here: https://www.easystorage.com/franchise.

Anyone taking on a franchise must live in the franchise area, and there are only a few areas left with no easyStorage franchise operation.

The easy Name

The easyGroup is the private investment vehicle of serial entrepreneur Stelios. It licences the easy brand to reputable, consumer facing partners, often becoming shareholders. The best known is perhaps easyJet plc, started by Stelios in 1995. (He remains the largest single shareholder.)

As a relatively young company competing with industry giants and up-ending their business model, the easy name has been a fantastic asset to franchisees. The easyGroup brand values, as well as being entrepreneurial, include simplicity, honesty, caring, making a difference and FUN.  People know and sense this in the name, and all franchisees and staff aim to live up to these values as part of the easyStorage family.

Partnerships

easyStorage has a referral programme managed since October 2020 by Irene Kapetanaki.

Partnerships include strategic discounts to groups of people (such as NHS workers), logical relationships such as declutterers, help for  local authorities and the homeless and even high quality affiliate programmes that allow the company to keep its costs lower.

Why consider a small space rather than the big ones?

With everything becoming expensive nowadays, it is very important to become more resourceful, efficient, and practical, especially with your spending attitude. We don’t want to end up being tied up in debts just to keep with our wants over our needs. A shelter (house, studio, apartment, etc.), for example, is considered as a need for a person to survive. It’s only fair that we spend a chunk of our budget on it but it doesn’t mean we should get spaces that are beyond our budget capability. There are lots of available "small" spaces that are within our budget and can still sustain our need for shelter. We only have to be creative in maximising these spaces. Discover the gems hidden in living in small spaces.
