Thames Valley Fly The Nest!

In October 2020, despite the COVID pandemic, Alex and Emma Glass started easyStorage Thames Valley.

They really have become the ‘poster child’ for how good a franchise can become, throwing themselves enthusiastically into local community activities and adopting really high standards - so much so that they have outgrown their existing shared space storage facility and opened a new storage facility just outside of Abingdon, Oxfordshire (Burcot), way ahead of their original business plan.

Confident about their business, they always had the move to bigger premises planned, but they brought forward the investment by almost a year in order to meet anticipated customer needs.

They are experienced enough to know that finding this kind of storage space was going to take a long time, but the site came up at the right time and meets their needs perfectly. They are now the proud operators, on a five-year lease, of 17 thousand square foot of storage space, which came with a 7.5 ton lorry, two forklift trucks, a trailer and hundreds of extra storage pods.

The tight-knit Thames Valley team consists of business owners (franchisees) Emma and Alex Glass, two drivers, two loaders and back-office support. They have a great footprint in the areas they serve across their territory, which includes Oxford, Swindon and Buckinghamshire, and felt confident to go ahead with the investment based on knowing that they were likely to run out of storage space well before the end of this year, 2022, and that the new warehousing space will reduce their operating costs significantly, allowing them to continue offering really competitive storage prices.

Emma and Alex took possession of the keys on December 31st, and are feeling upbeat and confident about the move. They feel it gives them extra control and extra possibilities.

Thus far things are going well, and they continue to enjoy their easyStorage journey. This shows on their social media posts both on LinkedIn (look them up as Emma Glass and Alex Glass) and on Facebook.

We’ve had a lot of fun with them along the way, and wish them every success as they grow.

5 Tips in Creating a Workspace in Your Small Apartment

Dedicating a workspace or a home office should be equally valuable as any part of your apartment whether this is for a remote job or line of work is something that can be done at the comfort of your own home. More often than not, we tend to put this last on our list as sometimes we resort to our bedroom or living room as our go-to workspace. But hey, who doesn’t want working at the comfort of your bed with your PJs on while reviewing your business report? Think again. According to Harvard Business Review’s Guide to Being More Productive, “Unless you are careful to maintain boundaries, you may start to feel like you’re always at work and losing a place to come home to.” Working and sleeping in the same area is not a good idea as you tend to lose your work-life balance, which eventually will lead you to stress and being burnt out from work and feels like you don’t have a life anymore.
