St Andrew’s Day Greetings to our Ace Team in Scotland

November 30, St Andrew’s Day, and it would be very wrong of us not to acknowledge our Scottish team, which has gone from strength to strength.

November last year, despite a background of COVID lockdowns and restrictions, we at easyStorage were delighted to introduce Tariq and team, our Scottish rays of sunshine, to the wider World.

(They were also welcomed by Franchise4U and FranchiseWorld)

In the interim they have certainly made their mark. From becoming ‘Santa’s Little Helpers’ last Christmas to helping many other new franchisees settle in, there is never a shortage of smiles from their big orange easyVan.

Now covering all of Scotland...

Or more accurately easyVans: the team has recently expanded hugely, now covering ALL of Scotland, from Dumfries to Dundee and beyond!

In order to achieve this, the team is extending its fleet of vans, having them modified and ‘wrapped’ (given their bright orange livery) in Scotland, and seven new staff have joined the team. Additionally existing staff member John Smith has been promoted to Warehouse Manager, in recognition of his fantastic contribution to date.

They’ve spread sign printing across the country, forging local relationships, and buy local wherever possible to keep things proudly Scottish.

Kickstarters

They are particularly proud that this expansion allowed them to take on four ‘Kickstarters’ a government scheme aimed at giving youth a hand up the employment ladder. Government pays 25 hours a week whilst host companies invest time and resources into training them up.

For easyStorage this means bringing younger people into a business often seen as a bit old school, established, stuffy. The reality is that with new contenders like easyStorage around, offering better than ever service at lower prices, storage is dynamic and thriving. The first four ‘Kickstarters’ have taken on roles in accounts and in logistics, and another four are expected to join easyStorage Scotland imminently. The easyStorage ‘family’ has welcomed them in, taken them under their wings, and is expecting great things.

Partnerships

It’s the smooth service that has allowed this expansion to happen. Allowing people to book by phone, online or on chat has really helped customers to book clearly and transparently and taking away the ‘faff’ by collecting and delivering (saving money on van hire or using up favours from friends) has been popular.

To say nothing of hard work! The Scottish team has strong relationships with all sorts of businesses, including accountants and lawyers, and notably from companies closing offices and allowing their staff to work at home.

Estate agents have been quick to catch on that decluttering places will help them sell homes faster, and using easyStorage to help with that, and then later as people move house.

Care companies, their employees and care providers have seen value in the service for helping clear rooms either to create easier (wheelchair) access or to create a downstairs bedroom.

The team is obviously doing something right – the five star TrustPilot ratings keep rolling in.

We hear it on good authority that the team plan to hand out shortbread packs to easyStorage customers this week, that key members of our team may well be dressing up, with some of them adding  a little Scottish nod or two to their uniforms and vehicles.

So we wish them luck as they roll out across Scotland: “Lang may yer lum reek”.

And, of course, we wish them, and all of their customers and contacts, a very Happy St Andrews Day.

easyStorage: How to Use Self-Storage during Retirement

Retirement must be the pot of gold waiting at the end of the rainbow for every hardworking person who spent almost all their life working to earn a living. All of us will come to a point where we need to end our career phase and enjoy the golden years of retirement. People have different approaches when it comes to retirement. Some are spending it on organising and planning to downsize their home to make up for the years that they weren’t able to do it and some are into leisure where they buy boats or RV to enjoy a relaxing vacation they much deserve.

5 Tips in Creating a Workspace in Your Small Apartment

Dedicating a workspace or a home office should be equally valuable as any part of your apartment whether this is for a remote job or line of work is something that can be done at the comfort of your own home. More often than not, we tend to put this last on our list as sometimes we resort to our bedroom or living room as our go-to workspace. But hey, who doesn’t want working at the comfort of your bed with your PJs on while reviewing your business report? Think again. According to Harvard Business Review’s Guide to Being More Productive, “Unless you are careful to maintain boundaries, you may start to feel like you’re always at work and losing a place to come home to.” Working and sleeping in the same area is not a good idea as you tend to lose your work-life balance, which eventually will lead you to stress and being burnt out from work and feels like you don’t have a life anymore.
