October Jobs for Lifestyle Storers

We’ve bid farewell to the summer, and looming ahead are those wintery festivities, Hallowe’en and Christmas. Early October really is the time to get planning.

And as it’s a hugely busy time of year, with the children just settling back to school and winter gear coming out of storage and summer gear going away, we’ve kept it simple for you!

1.       Winterising

In our September prompts we looked at winterising, putting the summer away and getting ready for the months ahead. If you haven’t yet winterised that summer sports gear, boat, caravan etc, now may well be a good time to do it.

Keep an eye on our blog for further winterising tips (for example the golf season and tennis season are coming to an end for many).

2.       Summer things getting put away

Keep an eye on our blog for hints and tips on packing away summer clothes and summer shoes and sandals etc.

3.       Christmas preparation

Many people detest how early Christmas starts, but we can steal a march on the fuss by starting to prepare now as well.

·         Is the artificial Christmas tree still in good order?

·         Have our Christmas decorations made it through in good condition?

·         Do we know where our Christmas cake tin is?

It’s also a good time to make your plan. Look at who may be there for Christmas and who may not, who needs invites - and will you need to start preparing extra bedding etc?

If you love a Kirsty Allsop style handmade Christmas, now’s the time to start gathering the materials before crafting prices start to do their seasonal hike.

Who will you need to buy gifts for, and what’s your budget? Create a list.

The Black Friday 2022 sales fall on November 25, but Amazon has announced an extra ‘Prime Day’ on October 11/12, a new two-day shopping event exclusive to Prime members. If you are a Prime member - or know one who might let you use their Prime membership to order with - it may be a good chance to take advantage and spread the cost of Christmas a little, squirrelling your bargains away in storage.

And the dreaded Christmas card list also needs making now. Cards are already on sale in the shops, and it’s time to dig out the ones you didn’t use up last year. You’ve got this!

4.       Holidays

If you decide to take a last minute sunshine break over the Christmas period, now’s the time to start watching for those bargains. (If you already have one planned, of course, good on you!) Or you may have planned a ski trip.

In either case, you’ll be wanting to take things out of storage towards the end of this month/early next month to ensure that they’re all ready for your break.

(Of course, if you used our guide to packing away ski gear, your equipment should need very little attention before heading to the slopes!)

May we wish you all a very happy October  - and if you haven’t yet joined our happy band of Lifestyle Storers, you can call our storage team most days until 7pm on 0333 344 1938 for no obligation quotes.

Why should you consider renting a climate-controlled storage unit?

Just as how time passes by so quickly, everything around us evolves as fast as time does. With the advanced technology that we enjoy nowadays, it brought a great impact on how things are being modernised. The same goes for the self-storage industry – during its earlier days, typical storage units follow the traditional setup. Back then, facilities are the usual box made of metal, window-less with natural ventilation, and lockable by the renter. Fast forward to the present time, self-storage facilities have immensely developed into advanced operating units. If you will notice, most of the storage companies today offer modern features that highly contributes to their marketing strategies and one of the greatest innovations out there is a climate-controlled storage facility which is becoming popular now.
