New Year’s Resolutions

Straight after Christmas, New Year looms. Many of us will be glad to see the back of 2020,and be hoping that 2021 will be a kinder year.

At the end of 2019, a YouGov survey revealed the most common New Year’s resolutions. Some we can’t  help you with – sorry. Losing weight and exercising are down to you, as is spending more time volunteering. We’re not sure that we can help with making new friends either, although our franchisees and staff are a really friendly bunch.

As the same survey revealed that few of us stick to our resolutions - indeed most of us make the same ones every year - here’s a few we CAN help with.

Saving money

Around 30% of people in the YouGov survey named ‘Sticking to a budget’ as a New Year’s resolution. easyStorage can help here: we are about half the price of traditional self-storage.

New job?

Around 15% of people in the survey said they’ll be looking for a new job. Sadly, we think this number will have gone up for 2020.

From drivers to marketers, from sales to loaders, here’s a list of our current vacancies: Jobs with easyStorage

Of course, you might even think about becoming an easyStorage franchisee, especially in the North of England. There’s some more information here: About the easyStorage Franchise.

You can also look through our blog to 'meet' some of our newer franchisees, or come along to one of our discovery days.

Stressing Less

We can’t help with everything, of course. We are, after all, just a storage company, albeit, we think, rather a special one.

But perhaps there will be something in this blog post, written for Stress Awareness Day, might help: Stress Awareness Day.

For the rest of us

Only 58% of us, according to the YouGov survey, were making resolutions.

The following are resolutions that I make regularly, so I’m adding them here for the other 42% - like me - to think about:

Decluttering:

From visualisation to the order of clearing up, here are some tips to help you on your way: Tips for decluttering

I regularly resolve to have a good old tidy out, so I was amazed not to find this one the 'resolutions' list.

Moving house:

I was amazed this on wasn't on the list as well.

Whether you're downsizing or moving for other reasons, we created a small series of moving home guides this year which might be useful:

Whatever you resolve to do or not do, we at easyStorage hope you have a fabulous New Year.

There are a lot of challenges to deal with when it comes to house moving – from planning and organising up to making sure that everything will go out as planned. And one thing you have to do properly is to manage all your stuff. You never know how much you own until you decide to move to a new place. That’s when another dilemma arises. Traditional Storage Vs. easyStorage: Which One is Better

As Hassan Fathy once said, tradition is the social equivalent of personal habits. Habit, comfort zone, belief – these are just some of the words we can associate with the word "tradition." It is something that has been part of our lives that is so difficult to get rid of. Being open to innovation is hard for people who do not welcome the idea of getting out of their comfort zone. The hassle and inconvenience of learning new things are some of the reasons why people do not accept change. However, change is the only permanent thing in the world. We do not have a choice but to keep up with it. Else, we will be left behind.

As Christina Scalise put it, clutter is the physical manifestation of unmade decisions fueled by procrastination. Having a home office is becoming part of the new normal. We must keep it clean and orderly for us to become more productive even in the comfort of our homes.
