Meet Paul: The New Face of easyStorage in Northamptonshire & Buckinghamshire!

Paul Dixon is a brave man! He left his thriving logistics business – warehousing and long-distance transport - in South Africa in the hands of trusted partners, and is now embarking on another logistics based business: an easyStorage franchise. This time he will be helping the areas of Milton Keynes, Northampton, Bicester, Banbury, Kettering, Leamington Spa and beyond.

easyStorage finds that the ethical franchise model that they adopt means that the people at the front line have some ‘skin in the game’ - one of the big reasons that the company’s TrustPilot scores are excellent.

And it was that brand and reputation that drew Paul to the business, along with the ‘making it easy’ concept of collecting and delivering for customers, and taking the stress out of storage. He is acutely aware that sometimes people’s reasons for storing are not always happy ones. And that packing is not a task people love! Death, divorce and disaster are often the underlying reason for storage, and Paul is determined to make that easier for people. As an astute businessman, he is well aware that many are having to close their businesses, hit hard by COVID restrictions.

Just three years ago he moved to the UK with his wife and three children from South Africa to Buckingham, England. It’s ‘back to his roots’ as both of his parents are from Yorkshire (so fortunately he ‘gets’ English humour, and it’s not been a huge culture shock). His eldest daughter is at University in Nottingham, his youngest is at school, and his son Liam is about to join him running the easyStorage business.

There are two other family members we shouldn’t forget to mention: their two well behaved cats have come with them from South Africa. Apparently they cost more to bring here than the family!

With a family and two businesses making demands on his time, Paul enjoys spending his down time cycling around the gorgeous British countryside, and makes sure he stays fit in the gym.

Coming from South Africa, we asked him what had surprised him about the move. His answer will amaze us all: efficient government departments! Whilst they can always be improved, he’s found the ‘red tape’ part of things works surprisingly efficiently. This is always good to hear.

That South African red tape has obviously taught him patience. He originally heard about easyStorage from the landlord of his offices – one of his friends was applying for a franchise. Paul found out more and applied – but unfortunately there were already two other parties being considered for the franchise area. (Our franchisees all live in the areas that their businesses are in). So from initial contact to finally being the franchise partner of choice, Paul has waited two years to launch.

We want to give him a big warm easyStorage welcome. With those levels of experience and determination – and of course a dose of English humour - we know he’s going to do a sterling job.

Welcome to the easyStorage family, Paul!

Why consider a small space rather than the big ones?

With everything becoming expensive nowadays, it is very important to become more resourceful, efficient, and practical, especially with your spending attitude. We don’t want to end up being tied up in debts just to keep with our wants over our needs. A shelter (house, studio, apartment, etc.), for example, is considered as a need for a person to survive. It’s only fair that we spend a chunk of our budget on it but it doesn’t mean we should get spaces that are beyond our budget capability. There are lots of available "small" spaces that are within our budget and can still sustain our need for shelter. We only have to be creative in maximising these spaces. Discover the gems hidden in living in small spaces.
