4 Things To Know Before Choosing A Reliable Storage Company

Here, we prepare a list of things you need to check before deciding which storage company to contact in case you need to store your belongings.

1. Price, Payment Plans, and Special Offers

Of course, the top on our list is the price/cost of storing. Every time we need something, our first consideration is our budget. Is it within our monthly budget?

Look for a storage company that offers the cheapest service --- especially if you are just storing extra stuff to declutter. There are a lot of storage companies out there so don't make a mistake of storing your stuff at an expensive, not so fair rate. "Many players in the market" means prices are competitive. So get your mobile phones or laptops and search for the cheapest storage facility in your city.

Also, don't miss your chance of saving your money by availing promos. Usually, storage companies give special offers and promotions to attract customers. Find these companies so you can cut your storage costs.

2. Safety and Security Features

The most crucial factor, I think, in choosing the most reliable storage company is its safety and security features. Of course, aside from the cost of storing, you also want to make sure that your belongings are properly handled and taken care of --- not to incur extra cost in case of damage and/or loss.

Some of the features you need to check are the CCTVs, alarms, locks, etc. The presence of security guards, fences/gates, and fire safety such as fire alarms, extinguishers, sprinklers, and detectors should be of advantage.

Some storage companies also have climate-controlled facilities. Look for these companies if you are storing things like leathers, electronics, paintings, papers, etc.

3. Size Options

A good storage company should have a range of storage unit sizes. The self storage industry has different customers. Some customers only store stuff to declutter. Some store for renovations, transfer or moving --- with which the size of an entire house should be rented to make room for all the stuff and furniture to be stored. If you are one of these customers, you don't want to rent a 105 sq.ft. unit if your clutter can fit in a 35 sq.ft. pod. On the other hand, you don't want to rent three different units of 35 sq.ft. just to make room for all your household stuff.

No one wants to pay for space he wouldn't use and no one wants the hassle of maintaining several storage units.

4. Online Reviews and Ratings

To know which of the many storage companies in your city is the most reliable, check the online reviews and ratings. Here, you will see how happy or angry their customers were --- how they reacted to the kind of service the storage company provided them. It is an open book. You just have to go through it to help you come up with an informed decision.
